2021.10.19 16:21 ruser27_ Newbie here!
Hi everyone! Firstly I wanted to say that I am very glad to have found this group here in Reddit. I have been following it for some time and now I gained the courage to post after wondering if I should bother you all with some recommendations questions, as a complete newbie to rowing.
Basically, I (M27) lost control of my fitness and diet during COVID times. I am not fat at all (at least with clothes on), but I gained some fat (mostly in my stomach) and lost some muscle and resistance since COVID started, as I stopped going to the gym and started eating more poorly. The major problem for me is that for the last year, I started to have some upper back pain that started to bother me a bit more. I went to the doctor and made some exams and the doctor told me that it was a natural consequence of my “new” lifestyle and that there was nothing majorly wrong. He said that I must strengthen my upper back and do more exercise again.
Since, around a month ago now, I am changing again all my habits. I started to improve my diet again, making it much more healthy and in a caloric deficit to lose fat. I started also to walk much more and to swim more routinely (two things that I actually enjoy). Besides that, I just started going to the gym again.
Just a detail here: I never was a “sporty” guy. I never found a sport that I really like. And I never had particularly fun or enjoyed going to the gym. I just always did it in order to try to have a good looking body and to be healthy. But never as a “fun activity” (it was more as a needed sacrifice to be healthy, I guess).
In the last months, however, I started to search a lot about what could be the best exercises for my upper back. While searching, I started to read a lot about rowing. It was not only almost always listed as the best activity or exercise to improve my upper back, but also as one of the best for my whole body. I started to get more and more excited about rowing. I tried several times the rowing machine in the gym and, as a cardio exercise, it always was one of the most enjoyable. Alongside with that, I really love water and nature. And I only read wonders about rowing. Everything made sense in my head and I started to ask myself “will this be the first sport that I actually will really like?”. And mostly when it can have so many benefits.
The thing, however, is that I am incredibly scared to start it. I have too many questions inside my head: “am I too old to start it now?”, “will it make sense to start it now in the time that I am the most out of shape (taking even into account that it can be a team sport)?”, “will I suck at it?”, “will they accept me?”... And overall, I just don’t know what would be the best way to start it. I confess that I don’t know a lot of rowing clubs. But I discovered and contacted a club that offered a 5 classes initiation course in a lake in my area.
Considering all this, I wanted to ask you for advice and recommendations on this. Do you really recommend me to try it? Or should I just keep myself in the gym, work out a lot in the rowing machine there until I have a lot of resistance again and maybe just try it in a year from now? And if I you think that I should start it now, do you have any tips or recommendations for a newbie like me?
Thank you so much for your time and help beforehand. And really any help or support is very welcomed. Thank you!

2021.10.19 16:21 shumvera Does anyone have the Big Mouth TV Bible/any development docs?
I love the show and I love studying it, so does anyone have any development docs like the TV bible, the script (there is one available online but it's very weirdly formatted when you download it, so if anyone has a properly formatted one that'd be great) etc.?

2021.10.19 16:21 rbeatse Plex outputting Atmos information
I am building a house and I am putting in a theatre room. The current plan is to do a 5.2.4 system with a receiver that can output Atmos data to the “4” speakers. The player I currently have is a latest gen AppleTV. My Plex server is a Windows PC. Everything works in my current home but the current speakers are 7.2. I was just reading another post that made it sound like Atmos won’t work with Plex (or will only work if certain hardware is used). So, I ask you good folks, do I need to do anything special or use special hardware to use the system this planned to be installed (knowing that the audio receiver will be Atmos “certified”)? Thanks!

2021.10.19 16:21 snaiii I have one activity I would like to write more about, where do I do it?
So some colleges let me include a resume. The thing is, most of my activities can be covered by the activities section. There is one though (an activity about entrepreneurship, we designed a prototype for a product for deaf people and won some competitions, we were also written about in like 3 newspapers). Where do I put it all in?
Can I do it in additional information? Or should I make a resume despite not having much extra to say about every activity?
Also, can I include being on the newspaper in the honors section? How do I do it / word it if I can?
